PRODUCTION STATUS:
As we work our way through 2008, we have selected several festivals to
screen at, and also working with a Sales Rep to negotiate both International
and Domestic distribution rights. We anticipate a DVD release sometime in
the first part of 2009.
In the beginning...
Director JOHNNY ASUNCION met actor HRACH TITIZIAN at "The Actor's
Playpen" in the Fall of 2004. Being both creative and business minded, they
sought to collaborate on film projects. By the following summer, a "loose"
outline was developed for the feature film "FLOAT", an ensemble piece that
would enable both of them to be creatively involved both in front of and behind
the camera. However, they decided to first produce an original Short film
(unrelated to the feature) in order to gear up for a potential feature.
Thus, the Short film entitled "First Sight" was penned in December of 2005. In
February 2006, on a microbudget, "First Sight" was shot and edited, and the
film was well received at various film festivals.
By May of 2006, Johnny again picked up the "FLOAT" outline and began to
further develop the story. He contacted experienced producer Peter Paul
Basler, and with Peter's feedback was able to come up with a working script
draft.
After attaching Emmy nominated actor Gregory Itzin to play the lead, FLOAT
entered pre-production at the end of 2006 and shot in the early part of 2007.
FLOAT is first and foremost about the story and characters, but accompanied
by stunning visuals and a hip soundtrack.
